Infection prevention and control is constantly evolving. Cleaning plays a crucial role in preventing pathogen transmission and ensuring high-quality patient care.
Next-generation sequencing enables molecular epidemiological detection of transmissions and outbreaks with high precision over extended periods. The increasing use of data from electronic health records allows – albeit with significant effort – the automated surveillance of healthcare-associated infections.
The medicine of the future requires future-oriented hospitals that integrate established structures with new technology in the context of sustainability and resource conservation.
